Power - Ashtanga - Raja Yoga


Yoga is a powerful tool to disciplin body and mind and bring them in harmony. The asana practice in Power Yoga - Ashtanga Yoga is flowing and dynamic, linked by a transition sequence called a Vinyasa, in which movement is synchronized with the breath. The system of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga develops stamina and flexibility, as well as being very energising.

But there is more to Yoga then physical exercises. The physical practice prepares not only the body to be able to hold a meditation pose for a long period of time, it also prepares the mind for this task. A disciplined and sensitive mind combined with a healthy and flexible body leads a person to more happiness in life. This is the teaching of Raja Yoga.

If a person is not interested in the spiritual path of yoga he or she still might find some of the techniques helpful. Breathing exercises like they are taught in Pranayama can support free divers in their training or pregnant women in preparation of labour. A regular yoga practice assists in healing processes and/or reduces symptoms of an illness.

I teach classical, non-religious Yoga, following the guidance of Patanjalis Yoga Sutras. In beginners and intermediate classes I use elements of Hatha and Vini Yoga to prepare the students physical and mentally for the more strenuous practice of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga.
