Yoga in Dahab

Experience and enjoy a Yoga class during your holidays in Dahab. With the practice of asanas – body positions – you calm the mind and get your body flexible. It increases concentration and leads to mental and physical balance. Yoga prevents illnesses, strengthens the immune system and helps you to handle the daily stress of our modern world.

I'm teaching classical, non-religious Ashtanga Yoga, following the guidance of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. In beginners and intermediate classes I use also elements of Hatha and Vini Yoga to prepare the students physical and mentally for the more strenuous practice of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga.

I'm a certified Yoga teacher and have been practicing Yoga for more than 15 years. Since 2004 I have been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in Dahab, Egypt. You can join any time one of my drop-in classes or book private classes. Several times a year I offer Yoga holidays and Yoga Safaris in the mystical desert of the Sinai can be arranged.

Ashtanga yoga is a powerful tool to train body and mind. The asana practice is flowing and dynamic, linked by a transition sequence called a Vinyasa, in which movement is synchronized with the breath. The system of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga develops stamina and flexibility, as well as being very energising.

But there is more in Ashtanga Yoga then physical exercises. Ashta means 8, thus is meant the eightfold-path, as described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. Breathing exercises like pranayama can support free divers in their training or pregnant women in preparation of labour. They can have healing effects as well as helping to prepare for meditation. Ashtanga Yoga contains ethinc and moral rules (yamas and niyamas), a program for a healthy body (asanas and pranayama) and a balanced mind. All in all it's a way of living that can make you happier and more satisfied with your life.
